What 9E Means
9E is the low water level error on Samsung’s US dishwasher article: the dishwasher did not detect enough water in the tub during the cycle. Samsung’s step is to empty the dishwasher, add detergent and run a Normal cycle.
Common Causes of 9E
- Supply valve partly closed or house pressure low
- Water siphoning out through a low drain hose during the fill
- Inlet valve not opening fully
- Water level sensor misreading
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Empty the racks, fill the detergent dispenser and run a Normal cycle with nothing inside, as Samsung directs. Before that, check under the sink that the supply valve is fully open, and make sure the dishwasher is not draining while it fills, which a drain hose without a high loop can cause. If 9E returns on the empty cycle with the supply open, the inlet valve or the level sensor needs a technician.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The level sensor and inlet valve are behind the toe-kick and under the tub, reached with the water off and the dishwasher partly out.
