What 76C Means
Samsung’s US article says 76C, or a blinking Autofill indicator, means water has been detected inside the Autofill compartment, the door-mounted space that holds the self-filling water pitcher.
Common Causes of 76C
- Pitcher overfilled or spilled while being lifted out
- Autofill valve letting water through when the pitcher is not in place
- Moisture sensor in the compartment reading wet
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
With the pitcher removed from its compartment, look for standing water on the shelf or under the pitcher and wipe it dry with a cloth, then check that the pitcher is seated squarely and its lid is closed. If the compartment fills again on its own, the fill valve or the sensor behind the compartment is involved and the refrigerator should be looked at before the door liner takes on water.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The Autofill valve and its sensor live inside the door with the water line, and a door that keeps taking on water can damage the wiring and insulation inside it.
