What AP Means
AP on a Samsung refrigerator is not an error: per Samsung’s US article the refrigerator displays AP when it is acting as a Wi-Fi access point so that it can be set up for features such as SmartThings.
Common Causes of AP
- SmartThings pairing in progress
- Access-point mode entered by accident through a button hold
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
If you are in the middle of connecting the refrigerator to the SmartThings app, AP is expected; finish the pairing and the display returns to normal. If nobody was setting anything up, the access-point mode was likely entered by a button hold on the panel, and leaving the pairing sequence in the app, or completing it, clears it. No cooling function is affected.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- There is no problem to repair; a service visit for AP alone buys a walk-through of the app pairing.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
