What 3E Means
3E is the high-temperature water supply error on Samsung’s US dishwasher article: the water arriving is hotter than the dishwasher accepts. Samsung’s step is to verify the hot water supply is not set above 176 degrees Fahrenheit; its supply-requirements page gives 120 to 149 degrees as the working range and warns that water above 149 degrees can scald.
Common Causes of 3E
- Water heater set far above normal household temperature
- Hot loop or booster feeding very hot water to the dishwasher
- Thermistor misreading the incoming water
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Check the temperature setting on the water heater and lower it if it is set very high; a setting near 120 degrees suits the dishwasher and most households. If the dishwasher is fed from a recirculating hot loop or a booster, that supply is the thing to look at. If the water heater is set sensibly and 3E persists, the dishwasher’s thermistor may be misreading and Samsung directs owners to service.
