What 7E Means
7E, and 7C on some displays, is the WaterWall reflector error: per Samsung’s dedicated US article the reflector, the bar that slides along the bottom of the tub on WaterWall models, is unable to move. Samsung names pot handles, large knives, ladles and installation packing tape along the guide rail as the usual obstructions. On a Samsung washer 7E is the SilverCare feature, unrelated.
Common Causes of 7E
- Utensil or pot handle hanging into the reflector path
- Packing tape left on the guide rail
- Reflector seated the wrong way round
- Reflector drive motor or position sensor failed
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
With the cycle stopped and the lower rack out, look along the rail at the bottom of the tub for anything blocking the reflector and remove it, and if the dishwasher is new, check for packing tape still on the rail. Confirm the reflector sits on its gray shuttle with the logo facing forward and upward; if not, lift the vane, turn it the right way and reseat it. Then switch the dishwasher off at the breaker for two minutes, restore power and run a cycle. Samsung’s instruction is to request service if there is damage or the error continues with the reflector correctly assembled and power cycled.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The reflector drive is under the tub; only a reflector that is free, correctly seated and still will not move points at it, and that is a technician’s test.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
