What HE Means
HE is the heater error on Samsung’s US dishwasher article, a problem in heating the water, as opposed to HC, which is the heater running too hot. Samsung’s step is to empty the dishwasher, add detergent and run a Normal cycle. On a Samsung washer HE is the wash-water heater, a different part.
Common Causes of HE
- Heating element open
- Heater relay not closing
- Thermistor not registering a temperature rise
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Empty the racks, add detergent and run a Normal cycle as Samsung directs, so the control can test the heater with a known fill. If HE returns, the heating element, its relay or the thermistor is at problem and Samsung gives no further owner step; the parts are under the tub.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The element and relay are mains-voltage parts under the tub and on the board; they are measured, not swapped on the code.
