What C90 / C9 Means
C90, C9o and C9 are the most severe vent blockage test result on Samsung’s US dryer article: more than nine tenths of the vent is blocked. Samsung’s response is the same cleaning of lint filter and vent, and at this level the dryer will struggle to dry at all.
Common Causes of C90 / C9
- Years of lint compacted in a long duct run
- Bird nest or debris at the outside hood
- Collapsed or crushed duct section
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Treat this as a stop-and-clean. With the dryer switched off and cool, clean the lint screen and housing; then, with the dryer unplugged or its breaker off and pulled away from the wall, disconnect the duct and clear every section you can reach, including the outside hood. If the run passes through a ceiling or a long wall, a duct-cleaning service with a rotary brush is the realistic fix. Re-run the test once the duct is clear before drying a load.

- Drying at this level of restriction is how lint fires start; the fix is in the duct, and the dryer should not be run until it is cleared.
