What 1E Means
Independent repair sources describe 1E as the freezer temperature sensor failing to send a reliable reading to the control board, so the control can no longer tell how cold the cabinet actually is or regulate it correctly. Samsung’s own US article for this cabinet does not cover the code.

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Check that the door is closing fully across its whole gasket and that nothing inside is holding it open, since a compartment that is warming from a bad seal can look like a sensor problem before it turns into one. The sensor itself is wired into the control board behind an interior panel, and reaching it means opening that panel around live control wiring, so this is a technician’s job beyond the door check.

- A sensor that is only misreading, rather than a stopped fan or compressor, can leave the cabinet feeling cold for a while, so a thermometer check tells you more than the display does.
