What PC ER / PC CH Means
Samsung’s US article lists PC ER and PC CH together as a communication error between parts inside the refrigerator. Samsung’s own step is to unplug the unit, disconnect and reconnect the wire harness located above the door, then restore power.
Common Causes of PC ER / PC CH
- Door harness connector above the door not fully seated
- Wire in the door hinge harness broken from years of door swings
- Display or main board losing communication
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Samsung’s remedy for this code involves a connector, so the condition comes first: with the refrigerator unplugged, locate the wiring harness connector above the door that Samsung describes, unplug it, look for a bent pin or moisture, and plug it firmly back together until it clicks; then restore power. That is the limit of the owner step. If PC ER or PC CH returns, the harness through the door hinge or one of the boards needs testing, and that is a booked visit.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The hinge harness runs through the top hinge and door; tracing a broken wire there means removing the hinge cover and possibly the door, with the risk of dropping a heavy door.
