What bE / 6E Means
On Samsung’s US washer article a plain bE or 6E is the motor speed sensor error, the hall sensor that tells the control how fast the drum turns. It is easy to confuse with bE2 and 6E2, which are the jammed button codes on the same washer, and with bE on a Samsung dryer or dishwasher, where it is a button problem. Samsung lists this code with a name and one generic step only.
Common Causes of bE / 6E
- Motor hall sensor failed or its connector loose
- Drum obstructed so the motor cannot reach speed
- Control board not receiving the speed signal
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
With the washer powered off for two to three minutes, restore power and run an empty spin. Check that the drum turns freely by hand with the machine off and nothing is wedged behind it. If the code returns, Samsung directs owners to service; the sensor and its harness are tested with the rear panel off.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The sensor is on the motor at the back of the tub, and testing it means measurements with the machine powered and open.
