What bE2 / 6E2 / E2 Means
E2, bE2, 6E2, BE2 and 8E2 form the jammed button group on Samsung’s US washer article: the control reads one of the panel buttons as stuck or held down continuously. Note that on the same washer a plain bE without the 2 is listed as the motor speed sensor, a different problem entirely.
Common Causes of bE2 / 6E2 / E2
- Button held down by residue or a damaged overlay
- Membrane switch stuck closed
- Control board reading a key as pressed
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
With the washer powered off, press and release every button on the panel one at a time, working each one back and forth to its edges so that anything holding it down is freed, then power on and try a cycle. Detergent residue, a cracked overlay or a knob pressed in by a laundry basket are the usual causes. If the code returns with the panel clean and every button moving freely, the membrane switch or control board behind it is the suspect.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The panel membrane and board are replaced as a unit on most models; forcing a stuck key can tear the membrane and turn a cleaning job into a part.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
