What TC1 Means
TC1 is the wash-side temperature sensor error on Samsung’s WD53DBA900H-series Bespoke AI Laundry Combo service manual: the washing heater sensor in the tub is reporting an error, whether from a bad connection or from the heater’s overheat protection tripping because the water level sensor operated without water. It is a different sensor from tC (the drying duct and discharge thermistors) and TCH (the panel’s temperature and humidity sensor), so do not confuse the three.
Common Causes of TC1
- Washing heater sensor connector connected incorrectly or disconnected
- Heater sensor problem (contact error or sensor failure)
- Water level sensor operating without water, tripping the overheat protection
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Turn the Laundry Combo off, wait two to three minutes, and turn it back on before trying again. If the machine was run in freezing conditions, let it reach room temperature first, since a very cold reading can sit outside the expected range. A code that returns at normal room temperature means the tub heater sensor or its connector needs a technician’s test.

- The heater sensor is mounted in the tub at the bottom of the machine, reached with panels off and water drained.
