What OC / OE Means
OE, 0E, OC, 0C, 1 OC and 1 0C are Samsung’s overflow group: the machine has more water in it than the cycle allows. Samsung’s article points owners to its drain guidance, and its fill guidance is blunt about the dangerous version of this problem: if the washer keeps filling on its own, close the taps and request service.
Common Causes of OC / OE
- Inlet valve not closing fully
- Water level (pressure) sensor or its air hose failing
- Drain hose siphoning or badly positioned
- Supply pressure far above what the valve is rated for
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
If water is still rising, close both supply taps first and then switch the washer off at the wall; that stops the fill whatever the cause. Once it is safe, follow the drain-hose checks: with the machine unplugged, confirm the hose is not kinked, is inserted six to eight inches into the standpipe and is not sealed airtight, because a hose that siphons can leave the sensor confused about the level. If the machine overfills again on the next cycle with the hose correct, the inlet valve is likely staying open or the pressure sensor is misreading, and both are for a technician.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- A valve that sticks open will flood the room the next time it sticks; the fix is a replacement valve fitted with the supply isolated, not a watchful eye.
- The pressure sensor and its hose are inside the cabinet next to the control board.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
