What SF / 5F / Sr Means
Samsung’s US washer article names the IE, SF and 5F variants as a system error and Sr or 5r as a system relay error, and lists them in its section of codes with a name and one generic restart. The article does not say more, and this entry does not add to it.
Common Causes of SF / 5F / Sr
- Control board internal problem
- Relay on the board not switching as commanded
- Power disturbance leaving the control in a bad state
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
With the washer powered off for two to three minutes, restore power and restart the cycle. If SF or Sr comes back, Samsung’s instruction is to request service; both point at the control board and its relays, which are tested rather than swapped.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- A control board is the most expensive single part in the washer; confirming it is the problem, and not a shorted part it drives, is what the visit is for.
