What UE / Ub / dc Means
dc, Ub, U6, Ur, UE, 1 Ub and 1U6 are Samsung’s unbalanced load group: the laundry is distributed unevenly in the drum and the machine will not spin it at full speed. Samsung notes that Ur specifically means the washer will add water and try again to redistribute the load on its own, and that dc on some models is a door error rather than an unbalance.
Common Causes of UE / Ub / dc
- One heavy item or a very small load that cannot balance
- Washer not level or a foot off the floor
- Shipping bolts left in a new machine
- Suspension rods, dampers or springs worn
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Open the door or lid, untangle the load and spread it evenly around the drum, splitting one heavy item such as a comforter with a couple of towels or, on a top-load model, arranging items around the agitator or wash plate rather than on one side. Close the door and press Start. If a normal mixed load is stopped with this code every time, check with a spirit level that the washer stands level and that all four feet are firm on the floor, since Samsung’s spin guidance treats leveling as the first physical check; on a new installation confirm the shipping bolts were removed. A machine that is level, loaded properly and still bangs or stops needs its suspension looked at.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Worn suspension is diagnosed by feel and by inspection under the tub with the cabinet open; the parts are heavy and the tub can drop when they are released.
