With the DW80B7071 switched off and cool, clean the filter, pull the upper spray arm and clear its holes, and check that the hot water at the nearest faucet is actually hot before the cycle starts. If the top rack is still gritty after that, the circulation pump and the upper-arm feed are what a technician tests.

Once the DW80B7071 is switched off at the breaker and the water inside has cooled, lift out the filter assembly at the bottom of the tub the way the manual shows, rinse it and look into the sump beneath for food or glass. Check that the drain hose under the sink is not kinked and that the disposer knockout was removed if the hose connects there. If water still stands with a clean filter and a clear hose, the drain pump or the sump check valve needs testing.
