When every icon on the panel flashes after the refrigerator is first powered up or after an outage, Samsung’s US article says this is normal: the refrigerator is running a self-diagnostic.

- Power restored after an outage
- Refrigerator plugged in for the first time or after a move
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Wait. Leave the panel alone while the self-check runs and the display will settle to its normal readout on its own. If instead a specific code such as 88 88 or 83E stays on the display after the check, that code has its own entry and its own step.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- There is nothing to repair; the flashing ends when the self-check does.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
