What C80 / C8 Means
C80, C8o and C8 are vent blockage test results on Samsung’s US dryer article, meaning roughly four fifths of the exhaust path is blocked. It is a reading, not an error, and Samsung’s response is to clean the lint filter and the vent.
Common Causes of C80 / C8
- Lint accumulated along the duct run
- Flexible duct kinked or crushed behind the dryer
- Outside hood partly blocked
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
With the dryer switched off and cool, clean the lint screen and its housing; then, with the dryer unplugged or its breaker off and pulled forward, disconnect the duct and clear it, the wall run and the outside hood before reconnecting and re-running the test. A dryer showing C80 will still run, but every cycle takes longer and runs hotter than it should until the vent is clear.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The dryer is reporting the state of the house duct; the repair is cleaning, and a technician visit for C80 alone buys a duct brush.
