C-10, C-24 and C-F0 on a Samsung Range or Wall Oven: Reading the C Codes Before Any Reset

Samsung documents its range and wall oven codes on one page, explains three of them in detail and gives one general reset for the rest. Here is what that page says, what it does not, and why the microwave list is not a substitute.

Samsung ranges and wall ovens report problems as C followed by a dash and two characters, plus a few plain-word messages. Samsung’s single support article for both appliances explains a handful of these individually and then covers every other code with one instruction. That structure matters, because a search for a Samsung C code also returns the microwave list, which uses the same numbering for different parts. Read the range page for a range, and where it is silent, do not borrow a meaning from somewhere else.

C-10

Samsung’s note on C-10 is unusual. It says the code appears during the SmartThings self-diagnosis and may reflect the limits of the sensor rather than a defect; it can be ignored during that test if the oven heats normally, and if it appears during cooking the owner should attempt a reset. So a C-10 seen once while the app ran its check, on an oven that then preheats and holds temperature, is not a reason to book. A C-10 that appears while you are cooking, or one that returns after the reset below, is: on a range the sensor in question is the oven temperature probe at the back of the cavity, and it is tested with the range isolated.

C-24

C-24 is defined as the temperature sensor detecting that the oven’s temperature is rising faster than the normal rate. Samsung’s owner steps are to remove any obstruction from the oven vent, to open and shut the door several times, or to switch the oven off until it has cooled. The vent is the opening at the back of the cooktop on a range, or below the control panel on a wall oven, and a pan, a cover or foil laid over it traps heat in the cavity. A C-24 during Self Clean, when the cavity is meant to be very hot, is the same message and the same steps once the cycle has ended and the door has unlocked on its own. A C-24 that recurs with a clear vent and normal cooking points at the sensor, a stuck relay keeping an element on, or the control, and those are a visit.

C-F0

C-F0 is a communication error between parts. Samsung’s steps are to reset the power, connect the range to SmartThings, and allow the automatic firmware update to install within about half an hour. That is specific: Samsung has published firmware for some models that addresses this code, and connecting the range is how it arrives. If your range is not connectable, or the code returns after the update, the communication is between the display board and the relay board, and that is technician work with the range pulled out.

Everything Else

For all other codes, which the page groups as Err, Samsung gives one procedure: power the range off and on; if the code returns, turn its breaker off for thirty seconds and back on; if it persists, seek service. That is the honest state of the public information, and this site follows it. We do not attach a meaning to a C code Samsung does not explain, because the same characters on the microwave page name a gas sensor, a steam sensor or a door switch, and a meaning imported from there is worse than none. Quote the code exactly when you book and it is read from the service documentation for your model.

The Plain-Word Messages

Three text messages sit on the same page. door means the door is not closed, and the plunger switch is checked. bAd LinE means the power connection is not plugged in properly, and the instruction is to reconnect and verify the connection per the installation manual; on a range that means the cord at the terminal block or the plug at the outlet, and it is checked with the breaker off. tESt means Demo mode and is covered in its own post here. If a C code returns after the reset, book a Samsung range repair or, for a built-in oven, a Samsung wall oven repair, and say what the oven was set to at the moment it appeared.
