Samsung’s US washer lineup runs on two platforms that share one code vocabulary: front-load machines under the WF and WW prefixes and top-load machines under WA. Samsung lists their codes together on one support page, in pairs – 4E and 4C for fill, 5E and 5C for drain, OE and OC for overfill, dE and dC for the door, tE and tC for the thermistor, HE and HC for the heater, AE and AC for communication – where the E spelling belongs to older controls and the C spelling to newer ones. Reading the exact string matters more than the letter: 1E and 1C are the leak sensor on a washer, while LE on the same display family means something else on a dishwasher in the same kitchen.

The problems that bring a Samsung washer in sort into fill, drain, door and balance, and each group has a short list of parts behind it: the inlet valve and pressure sensor; the drain pump and its filter; the door lock and its switch; the suspension rods or dampers and the drum bearings. Vibration on a top-load model is checked against the leveling feet and the suspension before anything electrical is suspected.

Samsung’s own US article groups 4C with 4E and nF as one problem: water is not entering the washer as expected. Before assuming a valve has failed, close both supply taps, then pull the machine forward enough to reach the hoses and check that neither is kinked, that the inlet screens inside the hose ends are clear, and that the taps were actually open. If the fill is still slow with clean screens and open taps, the inlet valve or the pressure sensor that measures the fill needs testing.

No. SUd, Sd or SUdS is Samsung’s over-sudsing notice: the washer has detected too much foam and pauses to let it dissipate, then continues on its own. Samsung states on its support page that this code does not mean service is needed. The usual cause is too much detergent, or a detergent that is not a high-efficiency formula, and the fix is simply to use less next time.

With the machine switched off at the breaker and both supply taps closed, place a shallow pan and towels below the small access door at the bottom front of a front-load model, then open the drain hose plug inside it slowly to let the water out before the pump filter is turned. The drum will not unlock until the water is out and the door lock has cooled, and forcing the handle only breaks the latch. A top-load lid that stays locked is released the same way once the tub has drained.
